Aurelia Barrera was born and raised in Robstown, Texas. She graduated from Robstown High School.
She is married to Humberto Barrera Jr and has a son, Humberto Barrera III. Both of them are firefighters and serve their community.
Her daughter in law, Jennifer and son have two beautiful daughters that keep grandma busy. She loves traveling, hiking, rafting, and vacationing with her family.
After working retail for 16 years as a credit manager and sales associates, she felt the calling to educate our youth and serve our community.
As her family is a family of servants to our community.
She attended Texas A&M Corpus Christi and earned a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Education and then a Masters in Education Administration.
She worked for Robstown ISD as a Middle School teacher where she taught 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders.
Her subject was Social Studies where she embedded ethics and morals in her lessons and instilled in her students to be good citizens.
Eventually she transitioned to become an Administrator. After 21 years, she retired from Corpus Christi ISD as an Elementary Principal.
Aurelia retired in 2020 to care for her parents and her grandchildren. She continues to dedicate her time to serving her community.
She loves being CCD Teacher for St. Mary’s Mission and loves assisting the church by contributing to the community.
She also serves as a Commissioner for the Robstown Housing Authority. She monitors policy, rules and regulations
to make sure we serve our community to its full potential.
